Pond Shinobazu |
According to the stone inscription on Benten Island, the area between the Ueno Plateau and the Hongo Plateau used to be called Shinobugaoka (忍ヶ丘?), and the pond just took its name from it, but there are alternative theories. According to one, the early name Shinowazu (篠輪津 Shino wa zu?) due to the presence of bamboo grass later turned into Shinobazu. Another claims the name comes from the habit of young men and women to meet secretly here. by wikipediaIn the deep night sometimes I take a walk around this pond to exercise. 30 minutes walk is very good to keep a condition of my body.
In the night as there are not so much streetlamps it is dark around this pond. If there were NY,doubtlessly, it must be appointed to a very dangerous area and not recommended to visit for travelers.
In TYO situation is very different. This is the best point of a secret meeting for lovers. There are a lot of bench around the pond, so everybody will spend a good time to talk with friend or lover over watching skyscrapers in Ueno TYO.
